Paint Protection Film (PPF) & Ceramic coating over PPF
Paint Protection Film - PPF
Paint protection film also known as clear bra, clear wrap, PPF, or clear film is a high-tech automotive thermoplastic urethane film.
The Paint protection film is installed onto the car to protect the original paint from stone chips, deep scratches, UV rays, bird droppings, trees and swirl marks. It is essentially a thick layer of thermoplastic urethane that is applied to the entire car including headlights and mirrors. PPF is used for the ultimate protection of the car as well as making cleaning easier by preventing dirt from adhering to the paint. Clear PPF is one of our most popular wraps that not only offers great protection but also exceptional shine.
For those vehicles that have opted for the Matte finish, we also have Matte finish protection films available. Car owners that have a matte finish, know how tedious keeping its appearance can be with all the smudge and finger marks. Matte PPF has now levelled up with an easy cleaning solution as well as protection, making this product a well loved option for Matte paint.
In addition, we can apply a ceramic coating over the paint protection film which will help to prolong its lifetime and enhance its appearance. At Timmy’s we use a leading high performance flexible ceramic coating called HALO from Gtechniq. HALO enhances the performance of Paint Protection Film (PPF) and vinyl. It’s a chemically bonding, ultra-dense flexible film that becomes the permanent surface of the film – protecting it from the elements a car faces on a daily basis.
The density of the coating and its low surface energy improve dirt and water repellency of PPF or vinyl. It also helps to prevent staining from dirt ingression, as well as reducing yellowing caused by UV rays.Overall, HALO keeps the PPF looking in a much better condition and makes it much easier for people to keep their car clean following PPF/ vinyl application. Check out Ceramic Coatings and other Paint Protection for more information about Ceramic coating.
If you want to remove PPF, we recommend visiting professionals because it can damage the paint. After removing PPF, at Timmys we use an adhesive remover to clean the surface because glue needs to be removed immediately, which is used to stick PPF. It is recommended to carry out Pain Correction to remove haze and swirls left over from the PPF glue residue. After that, we use wax, sealant, or coating as the final protection layer. We also offer premium paint protection for cars in Melbourne. please visit our Youtube channel here to witness the transformation of Modesta Liquid Glass Coating on one of our projects!

Gtechniq Ceramic coating for PPF
Adding a ceramic coating over the paint protection film helps to prolong its lifetime and enhance its appearance. The top coat provides a high gloss shine. The Added slickness of the coated surfaces means cleaning off bug splatter, bird droppings and tar is much easier. Lastly, installing ceramic coating over PPF protects the PPF (vinyl wrap from discolouring over the years) hence why we highly recommend coating all wrapped areas with 1 or 2 coats of gtechniq Halo.
